This month, we’re saying a fond farewell to Sam Durcan at Southlands who is leaving Westward Care after a phenomenal 25 years with us.

Peter Hodkinson, Managing Director of Westward Care, said: “What can I say about Sam, apart from that she exemplifies so much of what Westward Care represents. Not only is she warm and compassionate but going the extra mile for our residents is second nature to her – and it speaks of Sam’s caring nature that she’s leaving us to care for her own mum. She will be missed by all of us at Westward Care – and our doors are always open if she ever wants to pop in for a cup of tea and a biscuit.”

Sam has been with Westward Care since July 1998 and joined the company straight after school.

With a smile for everyone, Sam is very popular with both residents and the staff and will be thoroughly missed by everyone.
"I love my job - I think it's important when working in care to not look at it like a job - it's my passion."
