Celebrating the role of art on Care Home Open Day

This year we celebrated Care Home Open Day on Friday 28th June with both Pennington Court and Headingley Hall enjoying the artist theme of this years event.

At Headingley Hall clients, relatives and visitors enjoyed a special visit from Firefly Pottery who joined us for a pottery session.  We are looking forward to seeing the mugs and plates which were beautifully painted by residents before being taken to be fired in the kiln.  Headingley Hall was also turned into an art gallery for the day with various artworks created by residents exhibited around the home.

After dubious weather at the start of the week we were lucky enough to have wonderful sunshine on Friday and held an afternoon of painting and sketching in the garden before enjoying afternoon tea.

At Pennington Court we were joined by the children of Flower Pots Nursery who enthusiastically joined in with decorating mugs, canvas bags and keyrings.  Together residents, visitors and the children painted large canvas’s which have been displayed.

Our regular arts and crafts sessions at Headingley Hall, Pennington Court and Southlands are an ever popular activity with residents enjoying being able to unleash there creativity while enjoying a cup of tea with friends!

"The staff at Westward Care clearly love their jobs and the residents. It is evident that they go above and beyond for the people in their care."
