As we all start to slowly start to return to some level of normality staff across all our locations are still working hard on the frontline to protect and care for all our wonderful older people.

So, when we were approached by a @yourcakesuk to see if our staff would like a free delivery of cakes made by local amateur bakers our staff were delighted.

The initiative is a community project started by Maud Arditti in France. She discovered from her Aunt (who is a doctor) that because the Government’s Covid-19 health guidelines had forced many hospitals to close their restaurants and canteens hospitals were running out of food for their health workers.

"Vos Gateaux" was launched: an initiative designed to overcome this issue within any city in lockdown. The movement was then launched in the UK as "Your Cakes UK" and our lucky staff at Headingley Hall got a recent delivery from Steph the Jam Tarts Team Leader for the first team in Leeds.

The entire operation is carried out in compliance with the government’s mandatory health measures. A lockdown baking guide has been created for this purpose, with strict hygiene instructions, and all deliveries within the distribution chain are contactless.

A huge thank you to the team of bakers and if you would like to become a designated volunteer baker get in touch with Your Cakes via the Instagram page @yourcakesuk.

"What a superb team and all are happy in their work which is key to providing a good service."
