As we celebrate the
launch of the new Westward Care values – of trust, kindness, respect and teamwork – we’re pleased to say that
Headingley Hall is already off to a great start, as the home’s new Multicultural & Wellbeing Room opens for staff members.
Launched this past September, the Multicultural & Wellbeing Room reflects the diversity of the Headingley Hall workforce and is a space designed to support staff of all backgrounds, as well as to promote rest and reflection in the workplace.
Developed by Headingley Hall Registered Manager
Heven Eyob and her team, the room offers comfortable seating for rest or quiet breaks; a designated area for prayer, meditation or reflection; and resources and reading materials celebrating cultural diversity and wellbeing.
Speaking on the idea behind the new room, Heven said: “The Multicultural & Wellbeing Room was created as part of our continuous improvement programme. It’s a space designed with our diverse staff team in mind – a place that promotes wellbeing, inclusion and respect for everyone.”
The response to the Multicultural & Wellbeing Room from Headingley Hall staff has been overwhelmingly positive, with Elkie describing it as “an inclusive and safe space that allows me to be myself” and Zeinab calling it “especially meaningful as a quiet, private area where I can perform my prayers”.
For Angela, the space has already become essential: “Sometimes I just need a minute alone to gather my thoughts... Having this room means so much; it’s exactly what we needed.”
