The 2024 Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA) ceremony was held on Thursday last week at the University of Birmingham. Unforgettable - Telling the Care Home Story was commisioned by our Managing Director, Peter Hodkinson as Chair of Leeds Care Association.

The play writen by playwright and Pluto Plays founder Brian Daniels  was shortlisted in two categories. Unforgettable is a tribute to, and record of the experiences of the social care sector during Covid.

Peter and Brian represented Unforgettable at the PENNA 2024 ceremony in the 'Support for Caregivers, Friends, and Family' category and the 'Integration and Continuity of Care including Social Care' category. It was in the latter that Unforgettable was declared Runner-Up, behind National Clinical Homecare Association winner The Best Kept Secret Report: The Value of Clinical Homecare to the NHS, Patients and Society.

The result of a series of interviews conducted by Brian with care workers following the pandemic, Unforgettable has to date been seen by over 2,000 people in locations including universities and church halls. We wish to say congratulations to Leeds Care Association for commissioning such an importnat piece of work and its recognition at PENNA 2024!

"You just feel accomplished - I absolutely love my job. To us, it is nothing, but to our residents it is such a big thing when you do something little like make their bed or do a bit of dusting for them."
