As another Christmas season passed, we said goodbye to 2024 and a warm hello to 2025 across all Westward Care homes this January.
The Cedars was a hive of activity last month, with residents enjoying exploring sensory items, demonstrating their artistic flair with painting, and singing and dancing with Musical Moments. The Cedars also celebrated two birthdays in January, starting with resident Betty, who celebrated her 95th birthday on New Year’s Day with a delicious cake, and a card sent by her son all the way from Arizona. We also celebrated social activities coordinator Joanne’s birthday with cake and some not-entirely-accurate '70' birthday candles! (Said Joanne: "[I]t was such a lovely surprise. I’ll forgive them for the number candles, apparently they were the only ones they had!”)
There was lots going on last month at Pennington Court, too, with an indoor archery competition being one fiercely contested highlight. We also celebrated what would have been Elvis' 90th birthday with a dance to the King of Rock and Roll's hit songs, while a few of the Pennington ladies treated themselves to some nail care and well-deserved foot spa time. Ada said it was so relaxing she felt like she could have fallen asleep!
Over at Headingley Hall, residents enjoyed some delicious mocktails and a little boogie to some classic 80s tunes. Headingley residents also put together a few flower arrangements in January, in memory of - and tribute to - one of our residents.
