The last year has been difficult for everyone. And families with older loved ones have been particularly affected by the restrictions around Covid-19 - with their older family members having to isolate alone at home or depending on family members for shopping, picking up prescriptions and support.

As we’re on the route out of lockdown, we’re all looking forward to getting back to living – but for some families returning to normality might throw up concerns around care, especially if those looking after older family members are returning to work after furlough, or if the past year has raised questions about more long-term support for your loved one.

But at Westward Care, there’s no need to wait until 21 June to get back to living – we’re safely welcoming new residents, Apartment owners and short-term guests on a daily basis, with families, couples and individuals making the decision to get back to living life as normally as possible.

We cater for a range of care and support needs with a variety of options from residential, respite and nursing care through to short term respite or the purchase of one of our beautifully appointed apartments at Headingley Hall or Southlands in Roundhay.

If you’re happy to travel to one of our sites, we can offer face-to-face viewings – and we can do virtual tours or a tour via video call – so you can get a true feel of the atmosphere and location of our sites.

And if your family member does decide that Westward Care is the right fit for them, if already vaccinated and testing negative on arrival new residents are now only asked to isolate for 2-3 days – rather than the 14 days which has been required up to now – so they can get back to living as quickly as possible.

We also know that visiting your loved one is a key consideration, and at Westward Care we are opening up our visiting arrangements, which means you’ll be able to see your loved one face-to-face subject to our assessments, Lateral Flow testing and use of PPE.

Families can also be assured that over the past year, our fantastic staff have ensured that life has continued as normally as possible for our residents and Apartment owners. Our residents have enjoyed companionship, in-person birthday and anniversary celebrations, hair and nailcare, exercise classes, creative activities, impromptu get-togethers and celebrations for holidays like Christmas, Easter and Valentine’s Day – all underpinned by robust infection control practices and plenty of PPE for staff.

If you and your family want to get back to living, give one of our friendly team a call today if you’d like to find and more and explore the right option for you and your family – and our expert staff will draw up the right package to suit your individual situation.

"The management and carers are kind and helpful. If I could mark them out of 20 it would be 20. They all do a great job."
