Residents celebrate the life and works of poet, Robert Burns

On Saturday 25th January Southlands Apartment residents came together to celebrate Burns Night.

Celebrating Robert Burns, the Scottish poet who wrote more than 550 poems and songs, we enjoyed a traditional Burns Night Supper.  Celebrations began with an ‘Address to the Haggis’ read by our resident, Tony, as the haggis was walked in before glasses were raised for a toast and the haggis ceremoniously cut into.

Following a delicious meal which included haggis, neeps and tatties and of course cranachan we enjoyed an after-dinner speech from Chris Helme who told us more about the fascinating life of Robert Burns and the history of Burns Night.

Many thanks to our staff for going the extra mile to make it such a memorable evening for our residents.
