Daddy's Diaries Talk

Residents, staff and visitors enjoyed a wonderful talk on the making of ‘Daddy’s Diaries’ a solo show by Jane Bower; daughter of Headingley Hall resident, Leonard Bower.

Throughout World War 2 Len kept a diary and the show is inspired by the discovery of these diaries in a box. Len’s diaries are a wonderful, comical account of the time with a beautiful love story running throughout. Jane has toured the country with her performance and it was fantastic to be able to learn more about the show and how the war diaries were adapted for the stage with Len himself.

Jane’s show has also now been professionally filmed and is available to purchase by emailing Jane at jane-bower@ntlworld.com. This is a not for profit DVD with 20% of the proceeds being donated to the War Child charity.
"I can honestly say we haven’t missed our old house at all. I feel like we have left all our worries behind. All the stresses and strains have gone away and we’re enjoying our life again."
