John Allott

Care Advisor, The Cedars

John completed a four-year social work degree in 1978 (University of Bradford) followed by post-graduate study at the University of Leeds.

John’s first social work post was with St Anne’s (Leeds) before moving to Wakefield MDC where his role involved a generic case load including mental health assessment. John subsequently held the posts of Assistant Area Officer and Senior Community Team Manager.

In 1989 he decided to specialise in dementia and mental health care and became the Managing Director of Hollies Care Services and later the Managing Partner to both Ashgrove House and Cedars Partnerships. These facilities provided residential and nursing care to adults who experienced dementia and other mental health difficulties.

Since 2008 John has concentrated his efforts of The Cedars Care Home at Methley with a prime focus on dementia and mental health care.

It was during this period that John also studied at Sheffield Business School (MBA) and the University of Bradford (Post-graduate Certificate in Dementia Studies). John also has Best Interest Assessor training (University of Central Lancashire).

Also, to aid the understanding of holistic care and the role of spirituality, he obtained a Master of Theology degree from the University of Wales (Lampeter).
