Bronwyn Gregory – Director of Nursing

Bronwyn is Director of Nursing for Westward Care and has responsibility for the development of operational and care management practices for the organisation.

Bronwyn started her nursing career at the prestigious General Infirmary at Leeds. In early 1975, she qualified as a State Registered Nurse, gaining valuable experience in male surgery before moving on to a post at the Women's Hospital in Roundhay, where she nursed female gynaecological patients.

In 1980 she joined the Ida & Robert Arthington Hospital as a Senior Sister specialising in Older Peoples services, which included care of the elderly, elderly mentally ill and rehabilitation. Whilst holding this NHS post for 13 years, Bronwyn undertook further studies and gained the ENB 941 qualification in Care of the Elderly.

In 1992, Bronwyn was approached by Westward Care to 'open the doors and become Matron' of their first business venture, a 23 bed nursing home in North Leeds.

The home soon gained a very creditable reputation within the Health Authority, Social Services and the independent sector. It was during this time that Bronwyn was promoted to Director of Nursing for Westward Care, where her influences, management skills and experiences have been invaluable.

In 1995 Bronwyn transferred to South Leeds to set up, open and establish a 62 bed nursing home. With Bronwyn's strong leadership and organisational skills the home has achieved amongst others, Investors in People, Beacon status accreditation for Gold Standards Framework End of Life Care and Excellent status with the Care Quality Commission. 2004 saw Bronwyn undertake and achieve the Registered Managers Award for the care sector.

Her core values continue to ensure that every individual is treated with dignity and respect and that as an organisation, we will endeavour to make a positive difference to residents' lives.
