Getting care advice

There are no hard and fast rules about finding the right care and support solution. However, try and talk to as many people as you can when getting advice on care homes, and ask for recommendations.

Family and friends are a good starting point, and your GP and local social services department can provide current lists of support and care facilities in your area. There are also a number of organisations that provide detailed lists of registered care homes in the Leeds area. These include:

When you have drawn up a shortlist of care homes, independent living apartments or at home care providers, try to visit as many as possible. Make an appointment to meet the general manager and then talk to residents, staff and relatives to gauge their opinions.
