End of Life Care
Our End Of Life Care provides psychological, social and physical support to residents when their condition no longer responds to medical treatment. We focus on keeping the resident comfortable and pain-free as they live out the rest of their lives in dignity and respect.
For many people, a care home is their final residence, a place where they will spend the last years of their life. We make our residents feel at home and provide the highest possible standards of nursing care. They have the comfort and reassurance of spending the remainder of their life in caring and familiar surroundings, with people they know.
We also work closely with a specialist palliative care team to co-ordinate our end of life care services with experienced district nurses.
Expert end of life care
This can be a difficult time for families. Our feedback and support framework encourages residents and relatives to join our discussions and voice their preferences.
We are extremely proud to have achieved the Quality Hallmark in End of Life Care in Care Homes under the Gold Standards Framework at our Pennington Court and Southlands Care Home. We are also proud of our staff at Headingley Hall for successfully completing the Care Homes End of Life Support Services (CHESS) programme, run by Leeds Primary Care Trust. Both these prestigious awards recognise residential care providers who deliver a high level of care.
Together, this support network offers considerable peace of mind to residents and their families at a difficult time. It also guarantees the residents greater control and more involvement in their care over the last period of their lives.
“Carol (Catering Manager) is always cheerful, even under stressful circumstances. If residents appetites are waning she goes out of her way to find something to tempt them to eat. Carole will go an extra mile and a half.”
