Lord Mayor Lights Up Christmas in Roundhay
On Wednesday 7th December, Councillor Jane Dowson, Lord Mayor of Leeds added a touch of Christmas sparkle to Roundhay by officially switching on the Christmas tree lights at Southlands.
The Christmas celebration event, hosted by Westward Care, opened with a performance by local entertainer Andy Lloyd. Clients, families and staff were treated to mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine to ensure everyone could enjoy some festive cheer.
Lord Mayor of Leeds Councillor Jane Dowson then officially switched on the lights on Southland’s spectacular Christmas tree.
Speaking at the event, Councillor Dowson said: “I’m delighted to be able to officially switch on Christmas for the clients and staff at Southlands. Christmas can be a lonely time of year for many older people and events like this help ensure that everyone can come together and enjoy the festive season.”
Peter Hodkinson, Managing Director of Westward Care, said: “At Westward Care, our people are at the heart of everything we do and we are delighted to be able to celebrate the festive season with our clients, families and members of staff.”
Headingley Hall and Pennington Court also hosted their own events as part of the our Christmas celebrations.
